Ron Ryles has worked with several performing ensembles throughout the United States over the past 25 years. His adjudication memberships include Drum Corps International (DCI), the North Carolina Bandmasters Association, the United States Scholastic Band Association (NJ), the Gulf Coast Judges Association (FL), the Florida Federation Judges Association, and the Atlantic Indoor Association (NC).
Mr. Ryles is highly sought as a drill designer, clinician and adjudicator. Under his assistance, many groups have gone on to generate history within their respected organization. His experience also includes Wake Forest University, Western Carolina University, University of Memphis, Middle Georgia College, the Blue Stars (WI), the Colts (IA), the Americanos (WI), Memphis Sound (TN) and several high schools throughout the country. Additionally, Mr. Ryles served as a member of the administration team of the 10 time DCI World Champions, the Cadets. He is a former member of the Jacksonville State University “Marching Southerners” and Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps, where he was part of the 1992 Division II championship, before becoming their drum major in 1994.
Mr. Ryles recently relocated to South Florida with his wife Sharon. She is the color guard caption head for the Jupiter H.S. Color Guard. Together, they directed the 2015 WGI A Class Finalist Castle H.S. Winter Guard. In addition, they own Beyond the Downbeat (www.BeyondTheDownbeat.com), a designing and consulting business for marching bands, winter guards and indoor winds & percussion.
