A packet of permission slips for Spirit competitions will be distributed to students at the next rehearsal.

Permission slips are DUE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 at 3:00 PM.  Students will NOT be permitted to board the bus without a completed permission slip!

Please COMPLETE, SIGN and turn in the ENTIRE packet.   Do NOT separate the pages.

PLEASE fill in your student’s name, contact information and medical information and SIGN EACH PAGE!  We do not have the manpower to write in this information for 100+ students!

Completed packets should be placed in the grey drawer for forms located immediately to the left of the band room entrance doors.

btn25  July 13, 2017 – Deadline to Purchase Vipers at Bulk Order Discount EXTENDED

We still have many students who have not purchased Vipers (marching band shoes) through Smith Walbridge.  These shoes are a REQUIRED part of the marching band uniform and CANNOT be purchased locally.  No substitutions are permitted.

We are EXTENDING the deadline to participate in the bulk order to Tuesday, July 18 at 11:59 pm.  Participating in this bulk order saves YOU $12.47.

RETURNING MEMBERS: Make sure your child’s shoes still fit NOW!

btn25  July 13, 2017 – JHS Band Ball Caps Now Available!

We are taking orders for JHS Band ball caps!  Caps are for $17.00 each and can be purchased by ANY band supporter – ALL JHS band students, family members, and anyone who wants to buy one!

  • WHITE caps
  • GREEN embroidery as pictured on order form
  • 100% cotton
  • Velcro closure
  • Complete head coverage
  • Same caps that SOJ Battery wears

Caps are an OPTIONAL purchase from the band.

Students can wear caps at marching band rehearsals and off campus activities.  These cannot be worn on campus during school hours per the JHS dress code.

Orders are due Thursday, July 20 at 9 pm so they are available for the August marching band camp.  PLEASE ATTACH PAYMENT TO ATTACHED FORM and place in the marked collection box outside the band room kitchen by Thursday, July 20 at 9pm.  Order forms are also available online HERE.

THANK YOU to those who have already brought in a donation for DCI Jupiter!  At this time, we do NOT need any more tape!

If you have NOT brought in a donation yet, we will have the band room open at a time to be determined the Saturday or Sunday before DCI so you can drop off your donation.  Please purchase items as designated by your student’s last name.  If a specific brand name is listed, PLEASE PURCHASE THAT BRAND NAME.  We will be selling these items at concessions, so we need to have large quantities of the same items.

The band room will be open from 10am – 3pm for projects, locker assignments, and general cleaning. All are welcome to join! Feel free to stop by and help out! Community service hours will be awarded for your time. Members of leadership are expected to attend and those interested in being on the leadership team in the future are strongly encouraged to come by!

btn25  June 9, 2017 – VERY IMPORTANT: Daniel’s Way Traffic Flow

PLEASE REVIEW and FOLLOW these traffic rules! 

The SAFETY of YOUR students is our TOP priority, but we need YOUR HELP!

  • Understand that the “field” in the Daniel’s Way parking lot is blocked off with barricades and cones because that ENTIRE area will be used for students, musical instruments, guard equipment and props. To prevent damage to equipment and “close calls” with our students, it is CRITICAL that vehicles do not drive on the marked “field” until ALL STUDENTS have cleared the field.
  • When the field is set up on the parking lot, YOU MUST PARK IN A SPOT IN THE SOUTH PART OF THE PARKING LOT PAST THE BARRIERS AND TRAFFIC CONES designating the “field.” We must keep the western side of the lot (along the fence) CLEAR for vehicle traffic.  Do NOT wait or park in the spaces on the western side of the lot unless you are FAR north of the traffic cones.
  • Do NOT park along the fence on the north side of the lot as this will block traffic entering the traffic lane along the west side of the parking lot.
  • Do NOT block sidewalk ramps near the school building. Our percussionists use the ramps to return equipment to the band room.
  • It is strongly recommended that you arrive 20 minutes BEFORE OR 10 minutes AFTER the scheduled rehearsal end time. Doing so will eliminate traffic flow through the “final run through” of the night.  We encourage you to come early, park and get out of your car to watch the show!
  • Please be PATIENT while the parking lot is being cleared. The rehearsal end time is when the kids stop rehearsing.  AFTERWARDS, they need to break down the field and put away instruments, equipment and props – and that takes some time!
  • Remember to FOLLOW ALL TRAFFIC LAWS regarding handicapped spots, stop signs, speed limits, etc.

These traffic rules are a result of some incidents that occurred last year.  Our priority is keeping our kids SAFE!  We must set a precedent NOW for the safety of our students for the duration of the marching season.

On July 10, 2017, the Jupiter High School Band is hosting a Drum Corps International competition.  Six corps will be competing, and we are expected to SELL OUT THE STADIUM!  Our concessions stand will be open and BUSY at this event!

We need YOUR HELP to help defer costs to make this event successful and profitable!

This event benefits the ENTIRE band program!

ALL JHS Band students are expected to participate in the production of this event by volunteering their time and providing a donation.

btn25  May 9, 2017 – Spirit of Jupiter Rehearsal THIS Saturday May 13!

Students should WEAR:

  • White t-shirt
  • Green (instrumentalists) or Black (color guard) shorts
  • Comfortable sneakers and socks (no high tops, sandals, flip flops, etc.)
  • Hat and/or sunglasses
  • SUNSCREEN

Students should BRING:

  • Your instrument.
  • 3-ring notebook binder with sheet protectors AND PENCIL for music.
  • 1-gallon water jug. Please fill your water jug AT HOME; do not plan to fill it at school.
  • A healthy dinner. Dinner is 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  Students are NOT permitted to leave campus for dinner.
  • Any required medications.

GET PREPARED THIS WEEK: Drink LOTS of extra water so you stay hydrated throughout the week.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED: Contact Susan Taylor at sflasue@bellsouth.net to volunteer.  We are also looking for an Assistant Spirit Volunteer Coordinator!

PAYMENT DUE: The second Fair Share payment is due on Saturday.
