JHS lockers for next year are available for PRE-SALE this year.  Take advantage of this opportunity while there are still many choices available!

Current JHS students can turn in forms and payment THIS WEEK in the Auditorium during lunch.

Next week, turn in forms and payment to Student Services.  ALL forms must be submitted by Thursday, June 2.

REMINDER: MANDATORY rehearsal for ALL bands is this Monday, May 9 as follows:

3:00 – 4:30 pm – Jazz Ensemble
4:00 – 8:30 pm – ALL percussion students (bring a dinner and homework)
4:00 – 6:00 pm – Symphonic Band
5:30 – 8:00 pm – Wind Symphony

SENIORS: PLEASE turn in your “Post-Graduation Plans” sheet in the wire inbox in the band room ASAP, preferably by Monday at 8 PM. 

TUESDAY: Call time for students is 6:00 PM.  Students should arrive dressed for the concert!  Bowties and cummerbunds will be distributed in the band room.

STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR FULL CONCERT UNIFORM!
We have had several problems with uniforms this year.  Please make sure your student is appropriately dressed.

BAKE SALE: Please bring in your homemade or store bought goods for the Bake Sale at intermission.  Drop off your items in the band kitchen on Monday night or any time before 6:15 PM on Tuesday OR drop them off at the Bake Sale after 6:15 PM on Tuesday.

TUMBLERS FOR SALE: We will have JHS Band Tumblers for sale at the concert!  Tumblers are $25 each and a portion of the cost goes towards your student’s fundraising account!

btn25  May 4, 2016 – JHS Finale Concert

Make plans to invite your friends and family to our Finale concert this Tuesday, May 10 at 7:00 PM in the JHS Auditorium.  See the attached flyer for more information.  The flyer is also available here on our web site.

Call time for students is 6:00 PM.  Students should arrive dressed for the concert!  Bowties and cummerbunds will be distributed in the band room.

STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR FULL CONCERT UNIFORM!

REMEMBER: Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band and all Percussion Ensemble students should wear a white tux shirt, black tux pants/skirt, closed-toed shoes, and boys should wear black crew length socks.  (Symphonic Band girls can wear a black concert dress.)

Wind Symphony students: Launder your concert uniform NOW so it is ready next week!

Friday, May 20, 2016, at South Florida Fairgrounds Expo Center

This is REQUIRED FOR ALL band students: Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble

CALL TIME: 515am – Meet at band room/Load buses

Concert uniform attire REQUIRED: Tux shirts, black tux pants, black dress shoes/socks or black dresses/black dress shoes for girls.  Bowties/cummerbunds will be handed out that morning.  This is a very special occasion, and your appearance and behavior are important!

Fun Depot: After graduation, we will head to Fun Depot.  The cost for activities is $30.00, which includes unlimited laser tag, go karts, mini-bowling and video games (excluding games for tickets/prizes) AND 2 slices of pizza and a medium soda.  (Bring additional money for extra food.)  Students can bring a change of clothes and change at Fun Depot.

Activity fee is DUE MONDAY, MAY 9 at 8 PM in the marked collection box near the band kitchen.

btn25  March 20, 2016 – SFWGA Championships – Adult Volunteer Sign Up

ALL HANDS ON DECK!  We are hosting the SFWGA Championships on April 2-3!  This is a BIG event with over 80 groups participating, and we need MANY VOLUNTEERS!

A SignUpGenius link for ADULTS ONLY is now available at www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0a45aea72fa4fe3-sfwga1.  Shifts are available Friday, April 1 through Sunday, April 3.

ALL WE NEED MANY ADULTS FOR THIS EVENT!   We are ESPECIALLY asking those parents who did NOT volunteer at the Festival or Premiere North events this year to sign up for a shift or two.  All band parents signed a Fair Share Agreement or Fundraising Financial Commitment stating that at least one adult must volunteer for one shift at these events.

Adults will be loaned a bright green EVENT shirt to wear at volunteer check-in.

The profit from this event will be converted to an HOURLY WAGE to be credited to student fundraising accounts.  If you are the parent of a senior and would like to designate your hours/wages to another band student, you may do so when you check in for your shift(s).

In order to qualify for credit in your fundraising account YOU MUST:

The itinerary for our trip to State Solo & Ensemble on Monday, March 28 is below.  CALL TIME in the band room is 9:15 am.  Adults going on the trip will need to park in the front of the school and check in with the front desk before coming to the band room.  Please tell the front desk that you are a VISITOR, not a volunteer.

Dress to impress!  You can bring a change of clothing to be more comfortable before/after your performance.

To encourage sales, we are having a Fundshoppe Blitz this Thursday, March 10 between 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm.  The student with the most online sales wins a Nike Custom Hoodie!

Students who would like to compete must register (create an account) on www.fundshoppe.com.  Then send out emails to out of town friends and family and request they help out the band with a purchase on the web site.  Be sure to send the student’s individual code in the email.

btn25  March 4, 2016 – Fishing Tournament Help Needed

Students and parents are wanted to help man a booth for the Warrior Classic Fishing Tournament this Sunday, March 6 from 1 PM to 6 PM at Johnny Mangos.  We will be handing out information and taking registrations and sponsorships.

The booth is part of the First Annual Oyster Bash & Conservation Event, which is also a fundraiser for a Johnny Mangos staff member recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

btn25  March 3, 2016 – Wind Symphony Brass Performance at The Loxahatchee Club

The Wind Symphony Brass Section will perform with a professional orchestra on Monday, April 4.

DRESS CODE for students is CONCERT ATTIRE: black tux pants/skirt, white tux shirt, black close-toed shoes and black socks for boys.  Students should bring home Wind Symphony jackets after school on Monday, April 4 and return them the Tuesday, April 5.  Bowties and cummerbunds will be distributed at The Loxahatchee Club.

STUDENTS SHOULD EAT BEFORE going to The Loxahatchee Club.

Please read through and return the forms below by Friday, March 11 so we have time to complete the necessary school district paperwork for the trip.

This fundraiser ENDS on Friday, March 11.  This is a traditional catalog fundraiser where students take orders AND PAYMENT at the time of the order.  Payment should be submitted with the order form and placed in the marked collection box in the band room next to the kitchen.  The profit for this fundraiser is 30%.

We are also selling CUSTOM DESIGNED JHS BAND tumblers.  These are 26 oz. and come with a black lid at a cost of $25.00.

The Balfour representative will be in the band hallway Wednesday, January 20 from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm to size for championship rings, take orders and answer questions.

Students will also have the option to have “BACK TO BACK” or something similar on the ring to denote our back to back state championships.

Credit card payments are accepted.

IF you wanted to order a Herff-Jones ring and were not able to last week, representatives from the company will be on campus THIS FRIDAY, January 22 in the auditorium lobby during the lunch periods taking orders for class rings.  Students will also be able to order Spirit of Jupiter Championship Rings at this time.

Lunches on Friday are 11:02-11:32 (Lunch “A”) and 11:56-12:26 (Lunch “B”).

Balfour: Wednesday, January 20 – 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm in the Band Hallway

On Saturday, January 23, 2016, the Jupiter High School Band is hosting the South Florida Winter Guard Association (SFWGA) Premiere North event.  ALL JHS band students are expected to participate in the production of this event by volunteering their time and providing a donation as specified in this letter.  Please review the letter, sign and return it to the band room by Friday, January 16, 2016.

btn25  January 7, 2016 – Winter Fundraiser Help Needed

We would like to offer some band fundraisers this winter to help reduce the out of pocket costs for students with outstanding balances and/or students participating in winter groups.  But we cannot offer the fundraisers without having volunteers to RUN them, so WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The fundraisers will be open to ALL band students, so you do NOT need to be the parent of someone in a winter group to help!

We are looking for chairs or co-chairs for the following fundraisers.   (See the links for more information about the fundraising products.)

Mixed Bag Designs – We have already been approved to run this again February 1-12.  We need someone to work with the company to get the catalogs, collect orders and payment from students, place the order (online), and distribute the orders to students when it arrives.

Tritan Tumblers – We would like to do this fundraiser in late February or early March.  Cynthia Carrino, one of our Winter Percussion Parent Liaisons, is meeting with the fundraising representative next Monday or Tuesday to get more information about this fundraiser.  If you can join her in the afternoon or early evening on one of these days, please contact Cynthia directly at cacarrino@yahoo.com.

Tranquility Cove Bed Sheets – We would like to do this fundraiser in late February or early March, not at the same time as the tumblers.  We think we can market these to seniors staying in college dorms, as they offer all sheet sizes, including Twin XL.

If you’ve been thinking about getting more involved in the band program, THIS is your opportunity!  We especially need parents of students who are NOT seniors to get more involved!  Talk to a friend and co-chair the fundraiser together!

All of these are traditional catalog fundraisers and should be easy to run.

btn25  January 7, 2016 Spirit of Jupiter Championship Rings!

Many of you have asked about Spirit of Jupiter State Championship rings!  We will be sending ordering information to you VERY SOON!  You will be able to choose a ring from TWO companies this year:

Balfour: This is the company that we used last year.  They offer ladies rings ($219.95), men’s’ rings ($229.95) and pendants ($159.95).  Sales tax and packaging/handling are not included in these prices.

Herff-Jones: This is the company that the school uses for class rings.  Prices start at $129 BUT these rings cannot use the official FMBC logo.  FMBC has an exclusive logo use agreement with Balfour.

Representatives from both companies will be available at JHS on separate nights in the next couple of weeks.  They will size rings, answer questions and take orders.

The Football Hotbed All-American Games will feature 70 of the nation’s best athletes in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.  Two 35-man rosters will square off in each grade level mixing talent from the East and West coast together to produce the best possible competition for our All-American Game. Thus, the nation’s best players can display their talents to the nation via a live internet stream audience and truly be tested by facing the very best in youth football.

Please see the attached letter from the JHS SGA regarding discounted admission for marching band students to the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 10.

Students will be allowed to check out after the band’s performance at Santaluces High School with PARENTS ONLY – NO EXCEPTIONS.  All other students will return to JHS with the band after the competition awards ceremony.

Discounted tickets must be purchased by Thursday morning, September 17.

This is your last weekend to solicit orders for our cheesecake fundraiser!  All orders and payment are due THIS Tuesday, September 15.  Orders and payments should be attached together or placed in an envelope.  Orders should be placed in the marked collection box near the band kitchen.  Do NOT place orders in the inbox intended for forms!

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND CHECKS AS PAYMENT.  Checks should be payable to “JHS Band.”

If you receive cash from customers, we would prefer that you keep the cash and write a personal check or get a money order to turn in to the band.  JHS Band is not responsible for cash left in the band room or the collection boxes.

btn25  September 10, 2015JHS Band Tarp Party: Saturday at 1 PM

We are having another go at producing the many (20+) 22.5 square feet square tarps needed for this year’s show.  At our last tarp party, a single prototype was produced, which now needs revision.  And, we need to produce more!   Please come help Saturday from 1pm until we are done.  The plan is as follows:

  • Measure tarp
  • Cut tarp
  • Plan for a hem for the tarp where we eventually will place chains (at a later date)
  • Think about creative ways we can allow the kids to fold and carry these tarps w/o struggle.
  • No painting will occur at this particular tarp party although we have had a large, generous donation of PAINT for this project 🙂

Please come and join us.  Bring your ideas, your bolt cutters, scissors, measuring tape, chalk, carpet tape, LOTS of duct tape, and your sense of humor! This is a work in progress and a volunteer operation.  We try to have fun while doing important work for this great program.

We have received used billboard to use so we can cut up into square tarps for our show.  This will enhance our show and make the field look GREAT!

Mr. Larkin need a coordinator for this project!  He will also need some people to help starting Saturday at 12 noon.  Here is what we need to do with the tarps:

  1.  paint them (using rollers)
  2.  let them dry and come back later
  3.  15 yard x 15 yard squares
  4. CELEBRATE!

We also need PAINT THIS COLOR to paint the tarps, if anyone has contacts with a paint company or could purchase paint and get reimbursed.

The band room has undergone some construction over the summer, and we need some help putting it back in order before school starts!

Adults and students are needed on Monday, August 10 starting at 8:00 AM.  Only students who are not in marching band can assist.  Students will receive community service hours.  Adults will receive hours towards their Volunteer Credit.

Calling all artists!  We need a design for this year’s marching band show shirt, and we are asking for your suggestions!  The design will be printed on the back of the black shirts worn as part of the Spirit of Jupiter uniform.  Designs must be submitted by MIDNIGHT Monday, August 24 to Debbie Wiley at WileyDebbie@bellsouth.net

The winner will receive $15 iTunes and $10 Sweet Frog gift cards.  More details regarding submission requirements can be found here.

Hi Jupiter Warrior Band Family,

I write you with excitement as I formally announce the addition of our new assistant band director.  We have completed a nationwide search and we are confident that we are bringing you the best candidate.  Christopher Moore comes to us from West Virginia and will be joining us as the Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Jazz Studies at Jupiter High School.  He will also be assisting with chorus classes at JHS.  He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table and I am excited for you to meet him.
